Andermatt became interesting for tourists thanks to none other than Goethe, who travelled through Switzerland in the 18th century and raved about the mountain village. The Russian military general Suworow made the region even more famous during the war of 1799 against the French forces of Napoleon. When the connection from G\u00f6schenen to Ticino via the Gotthard was made passable in 1840, the era of stagecoaches began. Today, the Historical Stagecoach reminds of this time as an exclusive way to get to Ticino.<\/p>

The world wars in the 20th century drew the military to Andermatt, where it had stationed a large number of staff until the 1990s. The Sasso San Gottardo Fortress inside the mountain is now open to the public and offers a unique insight into this part of history. In the new millennium, one of the largest tourist projects in Switzerland has been realised in Andermatt - Andermatt Swiss Alps. The Egyptian investor Samih Sawiris is building a new resort next to the existing village centre. <\/strong><\/strong>A vehicle from \u201cmybuxi\u201d is best ordered via the free App, that is available in the Apple App Store or in Google Play Store, and can be downloaded. As soon as name, e-mail address and mobile number are entered the user is registered and can use the service. Collection time, collection place and destination are entered as well as the number of passengers. En-route other guests who have booked a journey in the same direction could board. This permits so-called pooling and optimises the vehicles' usage. Get on \/ get off points are therefore always virtual stops, that are evident in the App.<\/p>\n

The individual zones are defined in the zone plan<\/a> and and orientated with the prices found in Public Transportation.<\/p>\n

• A single ticket within the village of Andermatt starts at CHF 7 for locals and holiday guests.<\/strong><\/li>
• Children up to 12 travel free when accompanied by an adult.<\/strong><\/li>
• Young people from 12-16 travel at half price.<\/strong><\/li>
• With the 10-ride ticket, 1 ticket is required per zone.<\/strong><\/li>
• Guests pay for individual journeys directly in the vehicle by Twint, credit card or cash.<\/strong><\/li>
• With a monthly pass, guests can travel as often as they like in the zones purchased. The subscription pays for itself from three journeys per week.<\/strong><\/li>
• Subscriptions and blocks of 10 tickets can be purchased at mybuxi, at the Andermatt Tourist Information and at the Andermatt Swiss Alps Customer Services in Andermatt Reuss.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n
