Around seven percent of Europe’s water reserves can be found in the Gotthard massif. The Furkareuss has its source here at 2640 m above sea level.
The Reuss source is located in the Lago Lucendro area.
The Vier-Quellen-Weg in the Gotthard massif leads to the sources of the four rivers Rhine, Reuss, Ticino and Rhone. The hike roams through rugged, Alpine landscapes featuring a great diversity of flora and fauna. It is possible to feel the history of the surrounding Gotthard area.
Along Lago Lucendro, this third stage of the route leads to the Reuss source at the foot of the Lucendro pass and continues across the latter.
After a long hike, abounding in views on the heights above the Bedretto valley, hikers reach the stage finish – the Piansecco hut.
Overnight stays are possible at the Piansecco hut. Reservation is advisable, as the hut may be fully booked.
