Hospental tower

The tower of the lords of Hospental is the most striking construction in Hospental. Thanks to its elevated situation, the tower is clearly visible from several directions and is thus a shaping feature of the Ursern Valley’s landscape profile.

The tower is presumed to have been built in the 13th century, on account of the dating of the timber in the masonry. The lords of Hospental are the supposed patrons.

It is known that the tower was a residential tower for a long time, but it has not been lived in since the 15th century. The ruin is well-preserved and a moat in the form of a slight hollow can still be discerned on the western side.

Another perspective

The tower is clearly visible from many places in the valley, and an ascent to the fortified tower is just as rewarding. An all-round, fantastic view of Hospental and the Ursern Valley can be enjoyed from there.

Free entrance.
