The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn is located in the heart of the Alps. It runs from Zermatt to Disentis and from Andermatt to Göschenen covering a distance of 144 kilometres. Along its way the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn overcomes a total of 3300 metres difference in altitude, travels through 33 tunnels and galleries and crosses over 126 bridges. The lowest point of the journey is in Visp, located 625 metres above sea level, and the highest point is on the Oberalp Pass at an altitude of 2033 metres above sea level.
